The pier house

For the past seven months, I have been one of those people who take the pandemic very seriously and have tried my best not to go out or dine outside due to safety precautions. However, when I was invited by The Pier House to dine in their patio right in front of Venice Beach, I just couldn’t say no. One of the things I’ve been dreaming about during this pandemic is to just eat oysters and have drinks by the beach and thanks to Pier House, they made my dream come true and so much more! The Pier House, is a beachfront restaurant and bar in Venice, CA with a coastal California style seafood menu and has recently extended its patio to accommodate a surge in customers.I felt very safe from the moment I got in and sat down at the patio up to devouring their delicious food and drinks!

We ordered savory crab bagels, octopus tacos to the best lobster omelet I’ve ever had in my life to the classic French Toast with a modern twist! And of course, we ordered some oysters as that’s what we came there for! Our server Julia gave us a wonderful recommendation to try their crab and lobster claws and boy, weren’t we glad she recommended that! Their seafood is truly delectable as I can still taste the freshness of the lobsters, crabs and oysters in my mouth. Mitchell, one of their friendly managers also gave us their one of a kind, delectable fresh scallops as it was recommended by the Chef. Let’s just say I’m still dreaming about those scallops!

The Pier House is paying homage to Venice history and The Dancehall of the original Venice Pier in the early 1900s, the venue represents an all-new vintage inspired design, bringing a refreshed vibe to the are known as Washington Square. The menu from Executive Chef Alexander Schwartzman seafood inspired menu features classic fish house dished with a modern twist. If you’re looking for a new brunch place, don’t look any further and go on your dates here or round up your girl friends so you can spend the rest of the day by the beach after having their heavenly food and drinks!

How To Turn A Pallet Into A Planter

Hi friends!

Hope you’re all staying home and well. The pandemic is still here and I don’t think it’s going anytime soon so I’ve picked up a new hobby and found myself in an entanglement with plants lately that I ended up turning my old wooden pallets into a planter instead of buying different pots or new $50 planters.

If you have any pallets lying around your house, here’s a super cute way to turn them into a planter. Or if you don’t have any, I found mine for $5 each at this app called let go and they’re so worth it!

Enjoy and let me know what you guys think!

Say her name.

“It’s in your hands to create a better world for all who live in it.”

– Nelson Mandela

Can’t believe 4th of July is already almost here and normally, I would be so excited to celebrate and have my stars and stripes outfit made already; yet there’s a part of me that is unsure on how I feel about celebrating freedom and independence in a country where my African American brothers and sister are still being killed and murdered unarmed or in other cases while asleep. Therefore, I’ve decided to dedicate on selling a BLM Mask  donating 100% of the proceeds to Justice For Breonna Taylor

Nearly six months ago, a division of the Louisville Police Department performed an illegal, unannounced drug raid on her home. Not one single officer announced themselves before ramming down her door and firing 22 shots, shooting Breonna 8 times and killing her.

Not only were the police at the wrong house, but the man they were looking for had already been arrested earlier that day.

She was an award-winning EMT and model citizen. She loved her family and community, working at two hospitals as an essential worker during the pandemic.

Because of the protests about Breonna Taylor, one of the officers who murdered Breonna was fired from the force. Brett Hankison, one of three officers who stormed Bre’s home and murdered her in her sleep, was announced fired today by Mayor Greg Fischer on June 19, 2020.

This is a step in the right direction, but we know this is not what justice looks like and we refuse to settle for it. There are still two other officers, Jonathan Mattingly and Myles Cosgrove, on the force who were involved in Breonna’s murder. Mayor Fischer must fire ALL of them.

Also, Louisville voted to ban “no-knock” warrants, the warrant that was used the morning Breonna Taylor was murdered while in bed on June 11, 2020. So for all the people that think that protests do no good, they’re wrong! They make a difference.

If you cannot join any protest, sign a petition calling for justice for Breonna Taylor here.

Sign another one here.

Donate to a fundraiser for Breonna Taylor’s family, supporting their fight for her justice, here.

Buy a mask now and join me on fighting for justice and saying her name and making awareness of her sudden unlawful death!

Things To Do in NYC during winter

Hi Friends!

Traveling to NYC during winter? No problem, I got you!

Here are some tips of things to do/pack when you go to the Big Apple. I happened to have gone during Thanksgiving weekend so I got to watch the Thanksgiving Parade and it was marvelous! There were so many cool cartoon characters and celebrities.

So here’s tip number one.

  1. Pack smart and layers of everything!!! Cannot stress this enough. New York have really harsh winds and you can feel it slap on your face. Bring mittens, hats, 6-8 pairs of socks, cardigan, thermals and coats!
  2. Wear comfortable shoes! I made this mistake on my first day as I wanted to look chic and cute on my photos but after walking at least 10 miles each day (you are going to be doing a lot of walking) my feet were in so much pain at the end of the night!
  3. Buy aNew York City Go Pass. Trust me, it will save you sooo much money and you will be able to see as many places as you like on your visit. Because we bought a city  go pass, my family and I got to see three different landmarks that weekend.
  4. See the Statue of Liberty and I cannot emphasize this enough. BE THERE EARLY! Better yet, schedule the time you’d like to be there and be on time so you don’t have to wait in line for THREE HOURS! In order to get to see the Statue of Liberty, you’d have to take a ferry from Battery Park (you can take the metro to get there). Once you go inside, you can see the NYC sky line and it’s such a pretty view.

    4. Climb the Empire State Building. It’s one of my favorites! We went there first thing in the morning and the line was a breeze, where it can easily be like another Disneyland line. As you wait in line, there’s a few things to do like take pics with King Kong and other interactive media.

  5. Watch a Broadway Show! This has been in my to-do-list and we saw The Waitress. I also bought my tickets for a less expensive price than most at Goldstar. The Waitress was phenomenal, hilarious and relatable! It’s a must watch!IMG-4990
  6. See the 9/11 Memorial. It was beautiful, sad and powerful.

  7. You have to go to Times Square even though it will be crazy busy! Also, be careful of your surroundings and pick pocketers but have loads of fun!

That’s all folks! Wish we had more time to see Central Park and other places but each day was all so booked filled with walking. Hope this list helped you for your next trip. Tune in for more travel advice as I’ll be leaving to Europe this Friday!

alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet x FriendsWithYou Launch Party

Boy does Stacy Bendet do know how to throw a party! Yesterday I attended alice + olivia by Stacey Bendet x FriendsWithYou Launch Party at the Hollywood Athletic Club. There was a bounce house, lots of yummy drinks, claw machines, dancing clouds, celebrities and candies everywhere.. so pretty much every girl’s dream come true. Check out their new collection here Alice & Olivia x FriendsWithYou

The collaboration launches as part of alice + olivia’s Art Collective, a series of creative partnerships with renowned artists that began in 2013. The FriendsWithYou collaboration debuted in Los Angeles during an alice + olivia event that gathers the LA art scene in Hollywood, combining art, fashion, and fun.

alice + olivia’s Stacey Bendet was drawn to FriendsWithYou artists Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval’s joyous post-pop imagery and colorful style, and saw how their magical worlds would translate into whimsical, wearable art. The collection itself puts optimism at the forefront, with FriendsWithYou’s signature smiling cloud graphic drifting across knitwear, skirts, accessories and shoes. In the mix are alice + olivia’s saturated rainbows, with West Coast inspired silhouettes.

During the Art Collective event, alice + olivia will also launch its Kindness campaign T-shirt in partnership with Ditch the Label, the anti-bullying charity dedicated to promoting equality and providing support to young people who have been negatively affected by bullying and prejudice. alice + olivia created a black t-shirt with bold, white messaging: Kindness Is For Everyone. The shirt will be available in alice + olivia stores and online; a portion of the proceeds will go to Ditch the Label.
