As Pokemon Go finally hit the US a couple of months ago, you’ve probably seen an influx of people walking down the sidewalks with their phones in front of them —-and this is exactly why. If you are not familiar with this app —this new game turns a regular smart phone user into a real life Pokemon trainer, where you can walk down the street by your house and catch a Pidgey or Rattata or you can go to the local park and defend your territory at the gym. It wasn’t until recently that I actually started getting into this game. I recently went to a Pokemon date and went to a park in Orange County where Balbasaur is nesting. At first I didn’t believe that people were here walking at 10 pm just to catch Balbasaur, yet, the next thing I know I see a bunch of families, friends, coworkers – still wearing their work attire looking for Bulbasaur.

For this year’s Halloween party that my roommates and I decided to throw,  I wanted to be Pikachu and I also dressed Coco as Pichu – Pikachu’s baby. The outfit was really fun to make – I made a crop top and a tutu. Pikachu’s tail is probably one of the most difficult things to make. I had to use lots of wires, cardboard and felt to make it stand. What do you guys think about this costume? How was your Halloween? I hope you had as much fun as I did! <3

Flowers Over Adulting

Happy September! Fall is near so I’ve decided to do my last summer blog post. For this look, I made a two piece – printed bandeau and a ruched skirt with a white cardigan. What do you guys think about this look? I’m going to miss all the colors that I got to play around with this summer. Although, I’m sad that summer is coming to an end, I’m also excited that fall and a new season is coming! Anyone else obsessed with pumpkin spice lattes, knee high socks, boots and coats? Because I am. I can’t wait to make and style fall outfits.

I was walking in DTLA a few days ago and my roommate and came across these flowers and I absolutely fell in love with them and had to take photos in front of them. I think one of the reasons why I love flowers so much despite of them being beautiful is the fact that if you think about it, they actually go through so much dirt and transition before they actually bloom. I’m sure if you took elementary science growing up, you learned how flowers come to life and now as an adult, I look back at this process and think that this is pretty much what adulthood looks like. Growing up, I’ve always been an optimist; that everything will just fall into place and although everything has, I also didn’t think adulting was going to be as difficult as it is now. However, everyday is a new day to start over, to take risks, to be scared but do it anyways, to create something new, to invest on yourself, on other people, to build new opportunities, to dream, to play, to love and to hope.

XOXO,

Joy

Disneyland is one of my favorite places in the world and since I’ve been swamped with going to lots of events lately, I haven’t gotten a chance to use my annual pass. I told myself that I’m going to try to make sure to come more often and make my own outfits as well. Therefore, you’ll be seeing a few disney posts dressed up as few of my favorite characters for the upcoming months. So stay tuned!

I had to make my first disney outfit dedicated to none other than Minnie Mouse since it all started with a mouse! 😉 What do you guys think? I just made a simple circle skirt and a crop top with an elastic open back. If there are other characters you would like me to dress up as, definitely let me know.

Happy Tuesday and stay magical!

XOXO,

Joy

“No Hard Feelings”

I’ve always been one of those California girls who claims to love winter… until I visited New York City for the first time last year for New Year’s and wore three layers of clothing for about a week!!!  Not only was I literally freezing but my back also started hurting from all the sweaters, jackets and coats I had to wear on top of each other. I remember landing in LAX, yelling “I LOVE YOU LA!” Along with the pretty Palm trees, pop up trucks, gorgeous beaches, I must say I am pretty blessed and grateful to live in Sunny California. So at the days, where it’s winter but looks and feels like summer, I got no hard feelings!

The pier house

For the past seven months, I have been one of those people who take the pandemic very seriously and have tried my best not to go out or dine outside due to safety precautions. However, when I was invited by The Pier House to dine in their patio right in front of Venice Beach, I… Continue reading →
