Lavender Festival

It’s that time again when one of my favorite festivals at Highland Springs Ranch is here, The Lavender Festival! I love that it’s a family friendly festival yet, it’s also great for a romantic date. We came on the first opening weekend and there were actually less people than we expected, so less crowds, better opps! 😉 The scenery was lovely per usual and this year we ate at the buffet dinner (make reservations here ahead of time) We came late because we were too busy taking picture at the lavender field and ended up sitting in the middle of everything and got our own sweet table. I loved the scenery and being surrounded with light and eating underneath tall trees. The food itself was just okay to me but I was obsessed with their lavender tea and lavender lemonade! I actually mix them together and it was amazing. We also visited a few shops before we had dinner and Eddie bought so much stuff for the kitchen. We are both obsessed with lavender honey and lavender mint tea! Here are few of the photos we took below. There’s also an afternoon tea which we missed this year but definitely would love to try next year!

Hi friends,

On June 16, 2018, Eddie and I went to the Lavender Festival <3 It’s probably one of my favorite festivals yet as it’s celebrated at the beautiful 123 Farm at Highland Springs Ranch & Inn where the organic herbs are grown.

They also serve lavender everything – from drinks to ice cream with live music!

You can also make your own lavender crown! But we came a bit later so we were too late!

They also have mini cute shops that sell oils, soaps, candles, spices, teas, books, honey and even bread!

Then there’s two huge fields with lavender where you are free to take pics and there were also horse drawn carriages where they give out guided tours.

And of course, I had to make an outfit for this gorgeous event! I made floral flowy dress that ties at the front. All portraits are taken by my photographer boyfriend, Eddie <3

If you missed this year’s event, I hope you make it next year. It’s so worth it and have I mentioned relaxing?

Are you guys excited for Coachella? I’ve always wanted to make a butterfly inspired outfit so I made this two piece set with a high low skirt  along with a butterfly crown. I had so much fun making these as much as I had fun shooting this festival inspired look. I was actually super inspired by Maria Grazia Chiuri‘s Spring 2017 Couture line when I made this outfit as I am so in love and just obsessed with her collection!!! I wanted to play with the idea of dreaming, fantasy, fairy tales and magic. Chiuri accessorized her magical dresses with Stephen Jones’ garden- referenced headdresses which also inspired me to make my own butterfly crown. I’ve always loved the color magenta and also been wanting to make a butterfly crown since I feel like the floral crown has been played out at festivals.

If you guys and gals end up going to weekend 2 in Coachella, please don’t hesitate to say hi and chat! I can’t wait to just dance around in the desert. Also, if you have any outfit requests you’d like to me to make, feel free to comment and i’ll see what i can do!
Hope this little ensemble of mine inspires you to wear something fun and creative at Coachella!  😉

XOXO,

Joy

DIY: How To Make Floral Crowns

Happy Friday!!! Is it just me or anyone else excited for festival season coming up? One of the undying trends for this season is the floral crown. So I thought of making a quick tutorial on how to make one. Since I went to a Coachella themed party last weekend, I thought of making one with real flowers. It’s a lot simpler than you think, so without further ado:

You will need:

  • A bouquet of flowers
  • Green wires (bought mine at Home Depot)
  • Scissors
  • Your creativity 😉

FullSizeRender 10

  1. Layout your flowers and leaves you’d like to use and cut them with a good amount of stem.

2. Make a circle, measuring your head where you want it to lay.

FullSizeRender 6

3. Make a circle 3x and twist the ends.

FullSizeRender 7

4. Add your flowers and leaves by intertwining them within the wire and cut little pieces like this size and use that to twist the stems.

FullSizeRender 8

5. And now you’re officially a floral princess or a spring goddess! <3

Hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Now go to your favorite festival with your fresh, beautiful floral crown and be the goddess you’re ought to be!

The pier house

For the past seven months, I have been one of those people who take the pandemic very seriously and have tried my best not to go out or dine outside due to safety precautions. However, when I was invited by The Pier House to dine in their patio right in front of Venice Beach, I… Continue reading →
