Endless Summer Photo Meet

Hi friends,

A few weeks ago, my best friend and I hosted our second photo meet up at the Venice Canals in Venice Beach. Here’s a preview of some of my favorite shots by our huge photography community in Los Angeles. A Photomeet is a meet up event normally hosted by someone of a few people who gathers photographers, models, creators, influencers to create content, collaborate and magic together. It’s a great way to network, meet new friends, make different connections and get to know your city a little bit.

For this meet, we wanted to host it at the Venice Canals as there’s something about the canals that are beautiful and majestic.

Before summer ends, I wanted to make a matching outfit of me and Coco and a few weeks ago, I finally got a chance to do that. We went to the dog park in Hollywood and we got so many compliments! Coco also had so much fun running around with her fellow doggies!

Last month, she actually tried Solid Gold Mighty Mini and she couldnt stop eating it. Coco is normally picky with her food so I was glad to see that she loved this one! This grain- and gluten-free recipe is made with USA-sourced beef, nutrient-rich fruits and veggies, and a balanced blend of superfoods with omega fatty acids. She loved the savory lamb, sweet potato recipe – especially the wet food – it was also filled with plus nutrient-packed superfoods like vitamin E-rich cranberries.

I was thinking of doing more blog posts like this one where Coco and I have matching outfits – what do you guys think of this blog post?

Top Things To Do In Bolinas, CA

Hi babes!

As y’all know i went to the bay area a few weeks ago and I got to visit the beautiful Bolinas, CA. Bolinas is a small community in Marin County, California. It sits about 36 feet above sea level. Driving there was definitely insane – it’s like going to a whole new world.

One of the things you must do is to go – camping!

My boyfriend and i recently bought a tent and at first we were so adamant about investing in one but now we’re actually super happy that we did and we get to make use of it on our travels!

Lately we’ve been using Hipcamp to camp to the most gorgeous and not so well known places. In our adventure here, we stayed at the Garden By The Sea, which 1 1/2 hour from San Francisco and about an hour to Point Reyes. Here you can pitch your tent and be surrounded by this beautiful garden filled with different flowers.

Secondly, you gotta visit the Las Baulines Nursery where it’s filled with beautiful plants and flowers —and next to it is their local fresh home grown market.

Thirdly, go explore Point Reyes —here you will find their infamous light house, different beaches, lots of fields and deers! We saw a herd of deers as we were adventuring around.

Last but not the least, stop by at Sir & Star. We actually found this place last minute – right before they were closing. Everything closes around this area by 7 pm just FYI so when we found that this hotel/restaurant was open, we were delighted. I love the whole atmosphere filled with really branches and lit candles. The food was tasty and delicious. We were running late and were so happy that they stayed open just for us. <3

If you’re planning to go to the Bay Area anytime soon, hope this blog post helps! I’m about to write another one of things to do in San Francisco – stay tuned for that one! 😉

Hi friends,

On June 16, 2018, Eddie and I went to the Lavender Festival <3 It’s probably one of my favorite festivals yet as it’s celebrated at the beautiful 123 Farm at Highland Springs Ranch & Inn where the organic herbs are grown.

They also serve lavender everything – from drinks to ice cream with live music!

You can also make your own lavender crown! But we came a bit later so we were too late!

They also have mini cute shops that sell oils, soaps, candles, spices, teas, books, honey and even bread!

Then there’s two huge fields with lavender where you are free to take pics and there were also horse drawn carriages where they give out guided tours.

And of course, I had to make an outfit for this gorgeous event! I made floral flowy dress that ties at the front. All portraits are taken by my photographer boyfriend, Eddie <3

Amplify Pt. 1

Hi Friends,

This weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to attend Amplify OC hosted by Jazzy, sponsored by Kroger. In here I met amazing, beautiful women influencers coming from different backgrounds where we had to chance to connect, grow, devour healthy and simple meals and create together.

On Friday morning, we ate some delicious protein pancakes.

AfterlightImage 15

AfterlightImage 14

Then proceeded to our first goal setting activity where we got to think about what our “perfect day” consist of and share it with everyone. This exercise made me think about how I can handle my time so much better and how it is possible if I just push myself enough. It also taught me that I need to include self care in my day, as I’m always running around, I seem to always forget to take care of myself and well being.

AfterlightImage 7

AfterlightImage 10

For lunch, we had  Triscuit with fruits, cheese and salad. I was so happy when I found out that Triscuit is one of our sponsors as it’s actually one of my favorite personal snacks! I love that it’s light and crispy and healthy. My favorite is the fire roasted tomato & olive.

After lunch, we made vision boards underneath the olive trees. For my vision board, I included a of lot tropical islands as I dream to travel and go to as many adventures around the world and also visit each Disneyland in every country. The phrases “Transform your world” “Never the same thrill twice” and “Go your own way” are in there to remind me that it’s okay to be different and live my dream and manifest it even though it seems impossible right now. We also had our refreshing afternoon tea, thanks to Tazo!

For dinner, we had one of Jazzy’s “Your Dinner is Planned” Baja California Dinner, this is the very first time I had a vegetarian stuffed peppers and it was actually delicious. If you’re like me and doesn’t really like veggies- let me tell you that this one actually tastes like magic!

That was our day one last Friday and I hope that this blog post inspires you to eat healthy and take care of yourself. Stay tuned for my next post regarding Amplify Pt. 2! 😉

Oh and of course, I actually made this two piece outfit for this event! What do you think about it? When I did my research that we are going to be in The Nursery By Southwinds and saw how beautiful it is, I knew i had to make a floral outfit.

XOXO,

I’m a true believer that when women support each other, incredible things happen. Some of you may know that my bestie, Jessika and I started our own mermaid line, Secretly A Mermaid almost a year ago and it has been a fun, nerve wracking, crazy, glitter filled kind of year ever since. There are a couple of times that we’ve wanted to give up as we’ve realized that start ups aren’t easy but there’s many times that we are filled with joy as we are blessed enough to be able to do what we like to do best: which is pretty much everything – from designing, modeling, sewing, bloggging, advertising our own stuff, creating, expressing ourselves and networking.

And it’s times like this when we get to partner with different brands like TWOOBS that we’re even more excited than ever that we get to work with rad brands who slays around the world! They are Australian based super cool, glittery shoes that you can pretty much wear everywhere and ships world wide. They’re super light weight and fun! They even come with these cool glittery bag that you can use as your own clutch. I don’t think I’ve ever been obsessed with any pair of shoes than these!

Also, did you know that around one in four startups is founded by a female? Which is weird when you think about the fact that one in two humans is a female. This is why TWOOBS pass some of their profits to other startups run by female entrepreneurs. Every time you buy a pair of TWOOBS, you are not only scoring a super rad pair of shoes, you’re also helping a female start their own business. So go on their website now and check these babies out! 😉

Happy Summer! I’ve heard that there are two kinds of people: the ones who really love summer and just want to stay out under the sun all day everyday and the ones that really dislike the heat. I would like to think that I fall in between. I love summer so much and all the fun it brings in between: bumming at the beach, camping, bike rides, hiking, summer concerts, festivals and so on. But at the same time I also can’t stand the heat and I feel like I actually have to bring an umbrella with me everywhere I go.

For this shoot, I dragged one of my favorite photographers, Eddie with me to Valley of Fire to have a desert photo shoot with me and my girlfriends. I made a long, flowy metallic dress and wanted to create a futuristic look. This probably one of my favorite shoots so far as going there is actually pretty worth it. Valley of Fire is an amazing place. It looks like Mars and I plan to go back there maybe for fall as we didn’t have enough time to venture out and see everything.

IMG_0595

IMG_0596

I also made another outfit for the Neon Museum. I made a matching crop top and fitted skirt made out of metallic silver knit. It was another hot day again but we learned so much about the history of all the neon signs that was donated there from all over the world.

Anyone else excited for summer?

XOXO,

Joy

Castle On The Hill

Have you guys ever been to Knapp’s Castle at Santa Barbara? It’s a landmark ruined mansion in the Santa Ynez Mountains. It’s only 1/2 a mile to get to the castle before you park. I didn’t get to take any pictures of the actual castle as my phone was broken at that time but the view was breathtaking. If you haven’t gotten a chance to visit, you should definitely do so. When I went to do a photoshoot there with a friend, we actually became part of a proposal. It was one of the cutest and sweetest things ever. A guy asked his friends from Sacramento to help him propose to his girlfriend by using their van and carrying their couch all the way to Knapp’s Castle. The “couch” has been an iconic part of their relationship where a lot of their first kiss, arguments, asking her out to be his girlfriend has happened. We had to hide along with the rest of all the people who were there when his girlfriends came and came out as soon as she said yes to his proposal. I couldn’t help myself and cried out of joy.

Luckily, before I had to hide for the proposal, I got to do a few test shots because as soon as we finished the ranger came and kicked us out. I was a little bummed because we didn’t get to shoot more but at the same time my heart was happy knowing that I got to be part of something special. For this look, I made a see through tulle white dress. I thought it would go well with the whole castle background but we didn’t get to shoot the whole thing.

What do you guys think about this outfit?

XOXO,

Joy

Can you believe that summer is almost here? Other than the heat (which I’m not a huge fan of), I can’t wait for the long sunny days filled with fun, ice cream, summer concerts, festivals, beach days and road trips. As summer arrives, it is very important to find your summer essentials. I am very happy to share that I found one of my favorite brands as it was a love at first sight at “A Summer Of Love. Everything they have is boho chic that has the feminine and trendy vibe. I especially love this “My Michelle Belle Crop Top” that I wore at Coachella as it is so versatile, flirty and fun! I wore it with a draped skirt with a side slit that I made while it was super hot during the day and I also wore it with the “Lucky One Ripped Jeans” as it got a bit cooler during the day. What are you guys and gals looking forward this summer? Don’t forget to shop at “A Summer Of Love before summer fully arrives and don’t forget to use my code “JOY4ASOL” to get 15% off your entire purchase! 😉
